Visit to Olympia!

In Portugal it is the April 25th celebration day. However, in Greece, we had different plans. We went to see Olympia, the famous city where the Olympic Games were created and first established.

We visited Olympia's Archaelogical Museum, which has a lot of objects, pieces and statues from that age. It was probably one of the best museums I have ever been too. The tour guide explanations were very interesting and people were also interested in hearing them. We went inside the museum and outside to the fields. Everyone took a lot of photos because everything was magnificent.

I personaly bought three postcards and one olympic coin. Then, we went to the olympic stadium and every country had to have two participants: one boy and one girl. We both had to run against Greece, France, Poland and Turkey. After the race, we were given an olive made coronary and everybody was clapping. At 2 pm, we all went to Katakolo to have lunch and by some souvenirs. It was a great day!

Then we went to the City Hall where the Mayor´s Deputy welcomed us. As the responsible for Education in Patras, he reinforced the importance of the Comenius Program.

We visited also the Apollon Theatre (a micrograph of Scala di Milano) and the oldest public library of Patras.
The Association of Parents offered a great lunch to all teachers involved in the project, in a tipical tavern. Teacher Isabel will show tomorrow what we ate.
In the evening, the teachers crossed the bridge over the Jonic Sea to reach Nafpaktos town.

Portuguese Team for Patras

Hi!
My name is Ana. I’m 14 years old and I´m from Almada.
I’ve got brown hair and brown eyes and I’m very tall.
I love movies with magic and science fiction, listening to music and reading a book about adventures.
I don´t wear a specific style, but what I just like.
My favourite food is Sushi and a Portuguese dish called “ Cozido à Portuguesa “
( cooked with cabbage, carrots, potatoes, turnips, all sort of meat, beans and sausage ) that we usually eat in Winter.
This year I’m not allowed to host anyone, although I really wish to do it. Perhaps next year I’ll get this opportunity.
I would like to visit Greece because I’m interested in learning much more about this country, as for example: language, people, traditions and food.
I hope you can accept me as your host.

Portuguese Team for Patras

My name is Francisco Alexandre Conde Palminha Gonçalves! I’m 15 years old and I was born on 18th of February of 1997. I’m from Almada and I live there. I live with my mother, my father and my sister. I’m catholic. In my free time I have some occupations. The most important is to help the Priest on Saturdays and on Sundays in Church of Almada because I’m Acolyte. The others are the same of the other students, reading, listening to music, watching TV, drawing, and meeting with my friends. I like classic languages (Latin and Greek) and now I’m learning Latin, I like Taxonomy, Chemistry, Physics and Geology. I’m, generous, friendly, confident, skilful, tolerant, nice, and intelligent but I have a bad side, I’m nervous, stubborn and a little bit lazy. My favourite types of music are Classic, Pop, Rock, Country, Folk, Jazz and my favourite singers and bands are The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Elvis Presley, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Édith Piaf, Celine Dion, ABBA, Queen and Louis Armstrong.
I decided to participate in the Comenius Project because I love feeling and knowing different cultures, dishes, music, monuments and traditions of other countries, in order to expand my English knowledge and because it is important for the exchanging of experiences between me and other students. This is an enormous opportunity, I'm very happy!

Portuguese Team for Patras

Hi fellows. My name is Gonçalo and I'm fifteen years old. I, as the other two portuguese students, am coming to Greece in April. My hometown is Almada and some of you might have had the chance to know me in November, but for those who did not, I must say that I'm a nice boy, although a bit childish, so prepare yourselves. Well, stopping joking around, I am very delighted to go to Greece and meet all the areas, monuments and culture. I promise I'm going to be as much polite and interested as everyone should be because it's an one-time opportunity and I won't waste it at any cost. I'm tall, slim and I love everything related to trips, science and movie making. I'm very positive about this and I am certain that these nine days will be perhaps the best of my life. Thank you a lot!
